Fall in Northern California’s Mendocino County brings warm days, crisp nights, turning leaves, crush season and some of the most exciting food and wine festivals and events of the year – all in the relaxing atmosphere that prevails after peak season is over and the County settles back into a more mellow groove. The vineyards turn from green to gold to red, with a cornucopia of fall foliage that rivals even New England. Visitors come from far and wide to attend Paul Bunyan Days, Winesong! and the Mendocino County Fair and Apple Show.
Live! At the Gardens
September 4 ∙ 2:00 pm
Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens, Fort Bragg
The Blooming Garden…. Rocks On! As Mother Nature continues to keep this ‘Gardens’ blooming at a frantic pace …the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens prepares to welcome 3 musical giants during Labor Day weekend, September 3rd & 4th. The Gardens will play host to a dynamic Jazz, Rhythm and Blues concert series sponsored by the North Coast Brewing Company. On ‘The Green’ fringed by the bluffs overlooking the Pacific, this outdoor venue offers a special ‘coolness’ not only in the freshness of the air but in the surroundings. Towering pine trees, wandering paths and beautiful gardens lead you to the tented event site. Away from the hustle of urban life, this quiet open air venue lends a unique clarity to the music – here Mother Nature and musical genius compete for center stage.
September 4 ∙ 12:00 to 6:00 pm
Point Arena Pier, Point Arena
The Pirates are Coming! The Privateers of the Dauntless are dedicated to the preservation and education of maritime history of the 16th and 17th centuries. They bring history alive through historical reenactments including mock battles, cannon firings and much more. This year they’ve agreed to perform at our very own Pirates Cove ~ home of the Harbor and Seafood Festival in Point Arena! We invite you and your family to come join us in celebrating the heart of our little city… the Point Arena Pier community of fishermen, surfers, rockhounds, birdwatchers, abalone divers, seafood lovers, and all those who enjoy and protect the riches of the prettiest little cove in Northern California coast.
