On Friday August 3rd, American Airlines hosted a celebration at The Studio Museum of Harlem to announce the appointment of celebrity actor Laz Alonso as the new Travel Ambassador for its travel site for African-Americans, BlackAtlas.Com.

The party, produced by Luxelife Media, was held on the private patio nestled between two buildings on 125th Street in Harlem, New York.

The evening opened in the museum gallery with a brief press Q & A that gave a preview of vacation destinations that might be particularly appealing to African-Americans.  The goal was not only to encourage more black Americans to travel internationally but also to educate about places where black people have an in depth history.

The audience viewed promotional videos that highlighted Alonso in these little known places.  Invited guests then took pictures and moved upstairs to the patio. The fabulously chic party was jumpin’!  Special music guest Melanie Fiona lit up the night with sounds of neo soul that had everyone’s feet tapping and fingers snapping.

World-renowned chef Marcus Samuelsson, co-owner of the New Harlem Red Rooster, provided the food and beverage.  With over 250 guests in attendance, the event was a huge success offering many networking opportunities for the black travel community and lots of fun.

Celebrity/VIP guests included: Director/Actor Robert Townsend, Renee Graziano (Mob Wives), Jennifer Williams (Basketball Wives), Al Reynolds, JR Smith (NY Knicks), Amanda Seales (DJ/Personality), Harriette Cole (author) and more.
