Join the magazine for two days of cooking demonstrations with black chefs from around the Bay Area Saturday, September 8 and Sunday, September 9 at the Oakland Convention Center.

For the first time, Cuisine Noir magazine will team up with the Bay Area Black Expo to present an all-star culinary line-up of black chefs from some of the area’s top restaurants and community programs.

With a focus on healthy eating, syndicated radio personality Miranda Wilson will host the stage for two days as chefs showcase their skills and create recipes that focus on flavor without all of the harmful suspects: salt, sugar and fat.

Test your etiquette skills in two fun mini challenges with Tina Hayes from The School of Etiquette and Decorum.

In addition, attendees can register to win prizes from Glory Foods, Tony Chachere’s and more as well as enter for a chance to participate in the event’s “So You Think You Can Cook,” culinary competition where two teams will compete for a chance to claim the title and win the first place prize.  Judges will include celebrity chef Nikki Shaw, Andre Crump from Taste TV and firefighter Damon Covington.

Don’t forget to stop by the Cuisine Noir booth to pick up your copy of the magazine as well as samples by Columbus Salame and other goodies.

Be sure to check out the schedule below and mark your calendar. Sunday will end with a special interactive demonstration from celebrity chef, author and food justice activist Bryant Terry who will host a book signing with Marcus Books on hand to purchase his latest book, “The Inspired Vegan.”

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, seniors and students and available at www.bayareablackexpo.
