Calling All Young Foodies! Check, Please! Bay Area Seeks Kids to Cast in a Special Series of Four Episodes

July 24, 2018, San Francisco, CA – KQED’s James Beard and Emmy Award-winning Check, Please! Bay Area is seeking passionate young local foodies for a new series of four episodes of the popular program, which puts amateurs in the role of food critics. For the first time, Check, Please! Bay Area will give a handful of children the unique opportunity to dish about their favorite local restaurants under the guidance of the show’s host Leslie Sbrocco.

Producers are looking for articulate and passionate foodies between the ages of 10 and 14 to star in four new episodes which will premiere on KQED Thursday, November 29. Applications open online at on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 and will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis. Selected applicants will be invited to an interview at KQED’s studios on Saturday, August 18. Eventually 12 children will be selected for the shows with production occurring in September.

Each episode of Check, Please! Bay Area features three new guests who select a favorite local restaurant. Those restaurants are visited anonymously by the panel members who then join Sbrocco for a lively in-studio discussion and debate about their dining experiences at each.

To learn more and apply, interested children and parents/guardians can visit beginning Wednesday, July 25, 2018.
