Attendees will be connected to sustainable education, tangible resources, and networking opportunities with full scholarships available for the first 50 registrants that need assistance
In 2021, Ezell’s Famous Chicken Co-Founders Lewis and Darnell Rudd, along with their sister Faye Stephens, in partnership with DoorDash and other partners in prosperity, introduced the Rudd’s R.U.B.B. (Raising Up Black Businesses) Initiative, a precedent-setting initiative designed to financially empower Black-owned businesses with no-strings attached business grants to 20 Black-owned businesses and organizations in the Pacific Northwest. As they started the process, it became apparent that in addition to financial support, access to information, education, and networking opportunities would also be incredibly important for a lot of black owned businesses in the community.
“As I reviewed applications and met with many of these businesses, I began to look back on the journey of where Ezell’s came from to now having access to an advisory team/board, legal structures, and accounting structures.” says Lewis Rudd of Ezell’s Fried Chicken. “Reflecting on that as well as the conferences that I’ve gone to over the years where, in many cases, I would be one of 3-5 black business owners in the room, I began to understand the importance and need for Black business owners to be able to come into a space where they can gain access to information and resources that they may not even know are there.”
This August, in honor of #NationalBlackBusinessMonth, Rudd’s R.U.B.B. Initiative is thrilled to launch the Inaugural Black Business Leadership Conference on August 20 to further educate and elevate black business owners in the state of Washington – and Ezell’s Famous Chicken is offering full scholarships for the first fifty (50) registrants that need assistance.
Black business owners face challenges on many fronts, and these challenges were made worse by the pandemic. There is a growing understanding that barriers to advancement have been systemic and layered, but when Black business owners have access to the resources, information, and tools they need; they can succeed. Rudd’s R.U.B.B. Initiative is committed to being a part of the solution.
The conference will offer networking opportunities, educational content, connection sessions, and beautiful views of the bay from their rooftop.
Tickets are $65/person.
There is a virtual only option for $25/person to make the conference as accessible as possible.
Space is limited – reserve your spot as soon as possible online through eventbrite.
