Grenada, The Spice of the Caribbean, Named World’s First “Culinary Capital”

The World Food Travel Association (WFTA) announced that it has just named Grenada and sister islands Carriacou, and Petite Martinique, as the world’s first “Culinary Capital.” Culinary Capitals is a regenerative tourism program devised by the WFTA to put the spotlight on culinary cultures around the world as the tourism industry begins to recover after its long hiatus.

Kirl Grant-Hoschtialek, Acting CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA), said that “the Culinary Capitals destination accreditation by the World Food Travel Association is a huge achievement for Grenada.  We are known around the world as the Spice of the Caribbean, so it is fitting that we are the first Caribbean island to earn this designation.  This will undoubtedly attract discerning travelers who want to explore the link between food and culture, and who want to ensure that every dish they have on their vacation tastes amazing!”

In total, Doritos will invest more than $5 million as part of the SOLID BLACK campaign to amplify stories of Black joy, strength, and resilience.

Owners Of Shaggy’s Restaurants Announce New “Home Buyer” Program That Includes Cash Assistance For Down Payments

During an employee breakfast at the Mississippi Aquarium, Shaggy’s owners Ron Ladner and Rimmer Covington Jr., announced a new program to help Shaggy’s employees purchase their first home and get back on their feet financially.

“We decided that as we continue to strengthen our ‘culture of appreciation,’ we wanted to do even more for our people,” says Covington. “So Ron and I are introducing the Shaggy’s staff to our team at Bancorp South, in a partnership, to help them reach their dreams.”

Chris Romano, Market President for BancorpSouth, brought along a contingent of representatives who specialize in second-chance checking, secured credit cards, savings, auto loans, and home loans. They explained the various programs available to help the Shaggy’s team reach their financial and life goals.

dLeña Launches Weekend Brunch Service This July

dLeña by Chef Richard Sandoval is excited to announce the launch of weekend bottomless brunch service starting on Saturday, July 3. Mount Vernon Triangle residents and visitors will enjoy an innovative take on modern Mexican dishes and drinks every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 3pm.

dLeña brunch guests will choose between ordering bottomless food and drink ($45) or bottomless food ($30) and drinks a la carte. An array of tantalizing dishes offered include enfrijoladas with scrambled eggs, cotija cheese, black bean sauce, pico de gallo, and crema, cazuela with smoked eggs, charred tomato salsa, potato hash, and panela cheese, and birria beef tacos with radish, red onion, cilantro, and green tomatillo salsa. Other dish options include tuna ceviche with red fresno aguachile, shrimp enchiladas and zarandeado salmon.
